On March 2nd my Dad was presented with the Silver Beaver Award. Only a handful of scouters from each state are nominated each year to receive this award, and I can't think of anyone that deserves it more than my Dad! He's done it all from attending scouting outings to teaching merit badges and taking outdoorsy classes. His calling in life is most definitely to be a leader and teacher to growing boys. Congrats Dad! 
During the ceremony they had each recipient come onto the stage before they were presented with their award so that they could share a little bit about them. If you'll notice in the background they even had a little slide show! Our whole family cheered really loud when my parents walked on stage. I hope we embarrassed them :)
This is my Dad's walking stick. He belongs to the Flamingo Patrol in the boy scout troop that he participates in, and as a running joke he loves to collect anything to do with flamingos. All the little bobbles hanging from it are trinkets he's received from classes and campouts.
All of Dad's scouting buddies came to support him!
Our whole family and a lot of our extended family also showed up to cheer my Dad on.

The whole family went to dinner at Village Inn afterwards.
